NOTE: The below information is specific to Shavlik NetChk Protect versions 5.9 through 6.x The Shavlik NetChk console will automatically look for newer versions of certain Shavlik data and executable files each time that a scan is initiated. If a newer XML data file or executable is available on the Shavlik website, it will be automatically downloaded and placed into production on your NetChk console. (this assumes that the console has Internet connectivity and as not been placed in the 'run disconnected' mode) You may force a refresh (re-download) of all Shavlik XML data files and engines by clicking 'Tools-Refresh Files' from the menu bar in the Shavlik console. Note: this may take a few minutes as it will re-download all files in the \\shavlikdatafiles directory. Key files that are frequently updated include: Patch Assessment XML file - hfnetchk6b.xml: http://xml.shavlik.com/data/hfnetchk6b.cab Patch Deployment XML file - pd5.xml: http://xml.shavlik.com/data/pd5.cab Spyware XML file - spyware.xml: http://xml.shavlik.com/data/56/protect/spyware.cab (the CAB files are compressed, digitally signed packages that contain the underlying exe or XML files.
