 Post subject: SKB 15823: Scan issue after installing patch for Protect 7.2

On January 28, 2010 Shavlik sent an email to our customers, informing them that a patch for NetChk Protect v7.2 was available. Many of our 7.2 customers applied the patch and see the intended improvements. A small percentage of customers reported scan results were not being returned. On January 29, Shavlik pulled the patch from our servers so that others would not experience this issue. If you applied this patch, please verify your system receives scan results.

If you have applied the NetChk Protect 7.2 update 1 patch, open your console’s help>about box and see if it reports Build 343.

If it does, in the left nav bar:
Select “My Machine” icon (it is part of Machine Groups). In the top right pane’s ‘Scan with’ field make sure “Security Patch Scan” is selected.
Press the “Begin Scan” button. The Run NetChk Patch Scan dialog will be displayed. Make sure that “Auto-deploy patches after scan” is not selected.

Press the “Scan Now” button.
After the scan completes, you should see the “Scan Summary” page.
It should show a number of Patches missing or found.
If the number of patches missing and found are 0, then you need to run a special tool to address the issue.
